Spider Bull Debate
October 3, 2008 by Tom Sorenson
Let the debate begin - it isn’t hard to find information on the spider bull in Utah. Unless you’ve been completely disconnected with society, you know about the spider bull and that it was killed recently. As the debate heats up about this bull - we understand that folks are pretty strongly opinionated when it comes to this topic - and so we created a thread on our forum devoted to this bull. Tell us what you think about the bull, the hunter, the guide, whatever - I’d certainly be interested to hear what everyone thinks about this situation - it is causing quite a stir in the state of Utah and its ripples are just now beginning to spread. Click here to go to the forum and let us know your thoughts, or leave them in the comments section below. I’ve heard a lot of possitives about Doyle Moss (the guide) and a lot of negatives - help us all seperate fact from fiction, or just give us your opinion - this is America and I reckon we’re all entitled to one of those.
For the record, I’ll just state that I find nothing wrong with a person wealthy enough to afford the tag and the guide fees killing this bull. The hunter (Denny Austed) seems to have been an avid hunter, and if he just happened to be filthy rich to boot - more power to him! As for the guide, I have never met Mr. Moss, but have heard from legitimate sources that they find him to be a pretty decent fella that was kind enough to recommend hunting areas, tips,  etc. . . Of course, living in Idaho, I’m disconnected, somewhat, with what happens in Utah, so I’m interested in hearing all angles on this story - there is certainly no denying this one fact: the spider bull is one massive bull!

What’s alleged to have happened with this bull?
I am a long time hunter i mean i live for hunting.
I live here in utah and from what i here they paid alot off money to mossback to basicly tie it to a tree.
I here they threatened people, blocked public roads and just acked like *****.
I dont think that should be considered hunting.
Guides are supposed to guide you not cage them for you.
If thats what really happend then i would have to say mossback is very unethical and would not pay them for takeing the sport out of hunting.
But thats just heresake.
Steve if your so naive as to believe that, then i’m awfully sorry for ya. The bull raises many eyebrows but the hunting part of it is not one of them. He survived over two months of hunting, from over 100 different hunters on the mountain. No one tied him up and said come shoot it.
