Big Archery Missouri Buck

by:

Just got this email from a friend the other day.  He forwarded me these pictures and this story from a friend of his in Missouri who bagged this beautiful buck.  How about those brow tines, huh?!

I just wanted to share a picture of my buck I just got in MO. I know a lot of people think that we as reps hunt all the time but this is a prime example of it only taking a few minutes when the time is right!

I had been getting trail camera pics of the buck for the last couple weeks but did not get a chance to hunt him until last Thursday evening. I had been kidding some other hunters about the bucks making “Mockery Scrapes” around their stands and this buck was definitely making “Mockery Scrapes” around me. I hunted him four times, saw him three and had to move to keep the wind each time. Wednesday on my way back from Dunn’s Sporting Goods, I decided to try to get in an evening hunt and my only hope because of the wind was the “Scarface” deer decoy from Primos. I got to the stand at 4:45PM set up “Scarface” and in short at 5:20PM the buck was down. He came into the Clover Plus food plot chasing does and with two snort wheezes he saw the decoy and was on his way. I shot him at 18yds. as he strutted his stuff for old “Scarface”. Anyway, it was an awesome feeling to get a particular buck that I was really wanting to kill. They are all special even after all the years of hunting but when I am fortunate enough to harvest a particular animal it really means something special to me!

Thanks,

David Westmoreland

Congrats to David on a truly awesome buck!  And, thanks to Travis Smith for sending me these photos and the great story.

Wow. That is an awesome buck. I think I just sounded like a hunter.

I think that would be a really great feeling if you are able to get the buck you have been seeing around and had mentally marked for a hit. Congratulations to the hunter!

We’ve never been able to put up trail cams in the areas where we hunt…I can only imagine what it would be like to see the buck you had dreamed of to appear under your stand and present you with a shot!… way to close the deal! ( I can hardly believe the brow tines on that buck!)

Hunter’s Wife – careful, you might end up having to rename yourself, “The Hunting Husband’s Hunter Wife.” Huh??

CD – That would be great, wouldn’t it?! My fairy tales never end this way.

That is too cool. I love the stories where the guys, not only get to kill a deer, but also have that same deer on trailcam.

    Very cool.

Holy mackerel, that’s the longest drop tines I think I’ve ever seen. Congrats to Dave for another nice MO bow buck.
