Giant Non Typical From Illinois
by: Tom Sorenson
Well, John was at it again and he forwarded me these photos of this sickeningly huge buck from Illinois. I don’t have a lick of proof to back up the story – but it was included with the email, so will let y’all read how the anonymous author describes how it all went down with this gigantic buck.
Ok boys, sit back and take a look at this friggin’ monster. That’s my elk hunting partner,Chuck Hamstra[aka hamster]with a 200 inch class 18 point buck he shot 11-4-08 [at least one good thing happened that day] with his old High Country bow from a tree stand on his Albany, Illinois farm.  He has found a shed from this critter in April ’07 and they had seen it while coyote chasin’ in January.[his son Dave had even missed the monster during gun season!] Chuck had been combining corn all day Tuesday but quit about a half hour before sunset as he hopped on his 4 wheeler dressed in filthy blue jeans,a”good will” flannel shirt and a sweat drenched garst seed corn hat, his wife, Judy asked where he was going. He replied, “I still have time to hunt,” and took off. As he crossed the field, he watched in disapointment as several does scattered in his path but he crawled up into the stand anyway, no less than 10 minutes later along comes the drop tined buck which stops broadside at 10 yards and receives a 125 Thunderhead through both lungs.[that's an incredable hit for chuck! Just ask any of us who have hunted with him!] it stumbles off a few yards and goes down for the count. Chuck goes and tells Judy he shot a decent buck, she says,”whatever,it’s not gonna hang in the house.” He calls his son Dave who is driving over to son Kevin’s treestand to scare away some little bucks that have him held hostage on stand, and tells them he shot a buck and needs help tracking it. Having helped Dad track several  deer in the past they figured they were in for an all nighter. As Kevin takes the double dribbler blood trail he says he thinks they’re gonna find this one. A few yards later he shines the light on the huge buck…What an ordeal. Oh,when Judy saw the buck she…said it could go in the house and hang over the fire place in the space thas was reserved for the elusive elk that chuck can’t get. Congrats Chuck, you deserve a trophy like this!!
I don’t think I have to tell you all that this is an absolute slug of a buck! Congrats to the hunter (Chuck?) and, again, if you’ve got any more info on this buck, or if you’ve got photos of a buck or bull or whatever that you’d like to share with the world, let me know!

What a awesome buck! Congratulations to Mr. Hamstra! You are the man!
Holy cow, er buck. That is huge! I’d hang it over the fireplace too.
What a great story. You can see in Chuck’s smile and the twinkle in his eye’s that he is one “blessed” man. A hard working farmer who has his life invested in the land gets a huge reward for his labor of love. Way to go Chuck those “boys are going to have to live several lifetimes to beat that one. Even your wife knows how special it is!
What a cool story… AWESOME BUCK… and I love Chuck’s camo!
Oh my god that thing is huge.
Congratulations on a once in a lifetime buck.
