2009 Archery Pronghorn Hunt

October 28, 2009 by suzee

Big buck (blog)This was my first experience hunting these fascinating, beautiful animals… and I wasn’t disappointed! We saw plenty of Antelope, and the vast open country has a charm all it’s own.
I didn’t bring home a Pronghorn… but it sure whets my appetite for another chance next year! We had one very nice buck parade just out of range… sure set the ole heart to pounding! I did learn some things that I hope will make a difference for next years hunt!

I’ve never had much of a desire to chase after the speed goats, but I find watching other people hunting them to be pretty fascinating, especially the archery hunts. Trying to get that close to a ‘lope across that much open ground is just amazing to me. I love when the guys hide behind decoys.

Awww, Suzee, you had DUCKS right in front of you! I’d've taken a duck. Possibly the cows too, but I’m pretty sure someone would get mad about that.

But seriously, that must’ve been frustrating – so close.

Holly… I honestly never even thought of the ducks!! I guess that reveals the fact that I’ve never hunted ducks… or any fowl…hmmm… maybe I need to think about this!

Nice video Suzee. I think you need a ninety yard pin for next year :)

Suzee, really nice footage and the ducks knew they were safe with you. As for the cows? Well perhaps not such a great omen. I hope the waterhole is 40 yards long next year. Then you’ll make it happen. Thanks for sharing your hunt.
