Kids Know How To Have Fun!
A couple of weeks ago our young friend Zach came over and we took the 22 out in the back pasture and shot pop cans… I’d forgotten how much fun it can be! Awhile back Arthur wrote an excellent post about getting kids outdoors and he made the point that it doesn’t have to be some extravagant dramatic outing…kids know how to have fun with simple pleasures! Thanks Zach for reminding me of this!

It definitely looks like Zach was having a great time – and he’s an awesome shot!. It’s the simple things in life I tell ya. Plus, looking at things through a kid’s eyes, always helps to keep us adults grounded.
Thanks for the link.
We have a bike trail behind our yard and my 4 year old niece and I have been taking “nature” walks as she likes to call it. She talks about it all the time. One of her favorite things to do. For some, it’s only a walk, but for her it is so much more.
What fun! You know what else I took out of this video? Zach has excellent weapon handling. He was very careful not to move the gun around quickly, always faced it away from himself or the ‘camera’ and took his time. Well done, Zach! (And whoever taught him so well).
Hot dog! Three cans with one shot??! Now that’s some kind of shootin’!
Way to go, Zach – I remember many hours shooting pop cans with Dad and Grandpa.
Arthur – Yes, kids do help us stop and see things in a new light!
Jody- I’m glad you are enjoying those special outings with your niece! I remember when our three boys built a fort out in the back pasture… to them it was way out in the wild wilderness! That’s what makes it so enjoyable to take a kid on a little adventure!
Al- Thanks for your praise of Zach’s gun handling… he really is a very responsible young man and easy to give instructions to…he pays attention!
His folks have done a great job! It was good for me to have a pair of eyes watching how I did things… kept me on my toes!
Tom- I’d like to be able to say I taught Zach that shot… but niether one of us is sure how it happened!
