Late Archery Idaho Mule Deer
I tagged out this year by mid-October. That’s good because I like tagging out, but that’s bad because there are still hunts going on in October, November and December. And I just have to sit and watch them pass me by. In early November I was sitting at home when I received an email from my dad informing me he’d killed a whitetail. The email had a picture. The whitetail was a pretty nice Idaho buck.
Today I was sitting at work when my phone started ringing. This time it was my brother – and I knew he was hunting. I was with a client, so I couldn’t answer. Some 15 minutes later I was with another client and my phone started ringing again – it was my brother again. This confirmed it to me – he got one and was wanting to brag.
Once the office cleared out, I was getting ready to call him back when my boss (my dad) came in to my office and told me he just got off the phone with Todd (my brother). He got one. It was a nice Idaho muley.
I try and sound bitter and jealous because it makes a good story, but I am so happy for Todd. He’d been wanting his first archery kill for a long time and last fall he made it happen with a cow elk. Now he has his first mule deer archery kill as well – and a nice buck to boot – on the second to last day of the season. Congrats, Todd – wish I could have been there.
